Welcome to the Keble College Music Society website. We hope you will be able to find out more about us through these pages, but please feel free to contact us for more information.
KCMS supports a range of ensembles large and small, auditioning and non-auditioning: there's the Keble String Orchestra and Big Band for instrumentalists, and the Henry Ley Singers and Chapel Choir for those who sing. Click for more information on each, or look under other ensembles for details on setting up your own group!
We organise various series of professional concerts throughout the year, as well as providing opportunities for everyone to get involved through our termly Warden's Recitals and Jazz Evenings in the bar. Information, programme notes and photos from the recent early music festival in Hilary Term 2014 may be found at the link.
Last term was also particularly exciting for KCMS as the Henry Ley Singers recorded 'The Leaves of Life', their first professional recording project, with music by Clive Russell and Benjamin Britten. See our termcard for details of the launch of the CD in August, and residence at Ely Cathedral between August 11th and 15th.
Further events continue this Trinity Term, including elections for Committee roles at the AGM, auditions for the role of KSO conductor, and a number of exciting recitals and performances.
Keble also has several pianos and a harpsichord which may be booked for practice, and the College Bar may be used for ensembles for amplified instruments. Further, KCMS regularly helps Keble musicians with music and equipment hire.
Keble supports its musicians, heavily subsidising piano lessons, and with eight Choral Scholarships available, a Music Scholarship awarded annually to either a fresher undergraduate or fresher graduate, and three Organ Scholars. See Scholarships for full details.
So whether a performer, listener, vocalist or instrumentalist, we hope there's something to your liking on offer, and we look forward to seeing you at some of our events this term!
